New Ross
This
scenic city dates back as far as the year 1189. This city was built, as its
founders Isabella, daughter of Strongbow and her husband William, Earl Marshall
of England built a fortress and a bridge on the banks of the river barrow,
which lead to the establishment of the town.
New
Ross maintained its popularity with visitors over many years due to a variety
of reasons, such as its scenic views and walks, its rich history and its
differentiated activities to suit all interests. One of the most popular
attractions in New Ross is The Dumbrody Famine ship. This is the originally restored
ship that sailed Irish passengers to America during the Great Irish Famine.
This ship allows patrons to experience their Irish emigrant experience first-hand
through a guided tour of the ship which is not only educational but enjoyable
for all ages. Each customer is given a unique ticket which allows them to
assume the role of an individual who was on the Dumbrody Famine Ship.
Hook
Lighthouse is a great trip for all families and individuals, especially on a
sunny day as Hook Lighthouse hosts some of the most picturesque views of the
sea and landscape. There is also a playground to please the kids! Lunch is
served here for an agreeable price and consumers can avail of a stunning walk
along the shore. On your way to Hook Lighthouse, you pass the new refurbished
Loftus Hall, which is known as Irelands most haunted building. This is an
exciting and unique attraction; this attraction boasts cycling tours around
Hook Lighthouse, lunch, a house tour and much more!
New
Ross boats an impressive collection of fantastic restaurants, however one of
the most impressive and unique restaurants would have to be The Gallery River
Cruising Restaurant. This restaurant is situated on three boats in New Ross and
takes customers on a 2 hour cruise while they enjoy their 4 course lunch,
afternoon tea or 4 course dinner.
New
Ross is truly an interesting and enjoyable tourist experience for all
individuals of all ages.
