It’s nearing the end of June already; we here at The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel can’t believe how fast summer is going! We’ve been lucky with the weather so far, but we can’t forget the rain we had some days, it would make you think it wasn’t summer at all!
On a very positive note however, June has been very good to our hotel, our efforts to become more active on Facebook and Twitter and allowing us to stay ever connected with our customers, which allows us to promote a greater standards of quality to all guests. Make sure to follow us on Facebook to keep up to date with all upcoming events and competitions that we are hosting.
June has been a very busy month not only in the hotel, but also in our Sliabh Mór Bar and Lounge. We’ve had a string of fantastic performances from bands such as Theresa & The Stars and singers such as Jimmy Hogan. Our Sunday night dance nights are becoming ever more popular, customers enjoy the 4 hours of dancing accompanied with great music, €10 admission is great value for the enjoyment customers have at these nights!
Coming up in July, we’re continuing our theme of fantastic musical performances with Jerry Walsh performing on Saturday July 6th, Blue Lace on Saturday July 10th, Cupla on July 17th, Adrian Ryan on Saturday July 24th and Gerry Walsh on Saturday July 31st.
To top off out busy times, we are in the process of creating a brand new website, which will be more attractive and functional for all visitors to the page. The creation process will be completed very soon. This will allow us to modernise many of our services, which maintaining our belief in quality and traditional hospitality.

Functions and Events In The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel

Over many years The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel has hosted a variety of events, from birthdays, christenings, communion and confirmation celebrations to weddings and debs. Through this experience we here at The Rhu Glenn pride ourselves on not only delivering an enjoyable and memorable event in a venue that can host a variety of parties both large and small.
It is the belief but us here at The Rhu Glenn that our “personal touch” approach allows us to meet the requests of all guests. All of our party packages can be altered and customised to fit a variety of requests and wishes. While hosting an event The Rhu Glenn aims to not only meet all the requirements of the hosts but also to take some of their stress away and assist in the planning of the events. We feel that assisting in the planning of these events, beyond the point of other service organisations, allows us to create personal relationships with all consumers. These relationships are strengthened through continuous communication between us and the consumers to ensure all their needs are met and they are not just satisfied but delighted with our services.
Our location is very beneficial for a variety of functions and events as we are 5 minutes from Waterford City, 10 minutes from New Ross and 40 minutes from Kilkenny City, we are also located near a variety of churches and are easily accessible from a variety of road routes. All guests here at The Rhu Glenn can also avail of our complimentary parking.
We are currently expanding our function and event packages to include hen and stag nights. These packages will provide individuals with a unique experience. Packages will include a private trip to a haunted house, army training, laser tag, dance and cocktail classes, casino nights, beauty packages, transport which can include a limo and much more! All of these packages can be tailored to suit your individual desires and requests. We aim not only to please all consumers but to provide them with quality and value.
In the near future our new website will be launched which will allow all guests to view our various wedding, function and event packages and also to get directly in touch with us for more detailed enquiries. Things To Do In New Ross

Finally, in our series of informative blogs regarding the tourist destinations surrounding The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel, we would like to discuss the bustling city of New Ross, which is just 10 minutes from our hotel.

New Ross
This scenic city dates back as far as the year 1189. This city was built, as its founders Isabella, daughter of Strongbow and her husband William, Earl Marshall of England built a fortress and a bridge on the banks of the river barrow, which lead to the establishment of the town.
New Ross maintained its popularity with visitors over many years due to a variety of reasons, such as its scenic views and walks, its rich history and its differentiated activities to suit all interests. One of the most popular attractions in New Ross is The Dumbrody Famine ship. This is the originally restored ship that sailed Irish passengers to America during the Great Irish Famine. This ship allows patrons to experience their Irish emigrant experience first-hand through a guided tour of the ship which is not only educational but enjoyable for all ages. Each customer is given a unique ticket which allows them to assume the role of an individual who was on the Dumbrody Famine Ship.
Hook Lighthouse is a great trip for all families and individuals, especially on a sunny day as Hook Lighthouse hosts some of the most picturesque views of the sea and landscape. There is also a playground to please the kids! Lunch is served here for an agreeable price and consumers can avail of a stunning walk along the shore. On your way to Hook Lighthouse, you pass the new refurbished Loftus Hall, which is known as Irelands most haunted building. This is an exciting and unique attraction; this attraction boasts cycling tours around Hook Lighthouse, lunch, a house tour and much more!
New Ross boats an impressive collection of fantastic restaurants, however one of the most impressive and unique restaurants would have to be The Gallery River Cruising Restaurant. This restaurant is situated on three boats in New Ross and takes customers on a 2 hour cruise while they enjoy their 4 course lunch, afternoon tea or 4 course dinner.
New Ross is truly an interesting and enjoyable tourist experience for all individuals of all ages.

Things To Do In Kilkenny


For another of our blog entries, we decided to follow the trend of discussing the various things to see and do while visiting the beautiful city of Kilkenny. This historic city is only 30 minutes from our hotel and offers an eclectic mix of shops, bars, restaurants, nightclubs and tourist attractions to suit all needs and interests.

Also a short trip away from The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel is the beautiful city of Kilkenny. There is a multitude of things to see and do. Kilkenny has a vibrant nightlife and offers visitors an eclectic choice of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes! One of the most popular tourist attractions in Kilkenny is The Kilkenny Castle.  This castle was built in 1195 by William Marshall, the first Earl of Pembroke. This beautifully restored piece of Irish history. The ornamental gardens which surround this hotel will be sure to please all visitors to this scenic location.

St Canices Cathedral and its round tower are an essential part of the structural heritage of the medieval city of Kilkenny. This ecclesiastical site was founded in the 6th Century and was named after Saint Canice. This cathedral has been an important place of pilgrimage for both religious and tourism reasons. This large cathedral will be sure to leave all visitors speechless with awe.


Much like Waterford, Kilkenny hosts a variety of summer festivals which attract copious amounts of tourists to the area. One of the most popular festivals in Kilkenny is The Cats Laugh Festival which hosts numerous comedians from all over the world. The Kilkenny Arts Festival promotes a variety of different types of art from various artists. This is a fascinating festival which aims to increase the publics interest the arts.

In this blog we will talk about a variety of different tourist attractions in Waterford city and its surrounding areas.
Waterford
Waterford is the oldest city in Ireland and home to the world famous Waterford Crystal. In this lively city there are a variety of shops to suit all tastes a bustling nightlife and various things to see and do to ensure every visitor has a memorable trip. One of the most popular attractions to see while visiting Waterford are the Viking Walls which surround the older part of the city. These walls surround the city and were once used as a defence mechanism by the Vikings to protect themselves against intruders. To compliment this, visitors can also enter Reginalds Tower and experience first-hand what it was like to live in those times.
Another popular attraction to Waterford is The House of Waterford Crystal. Visitors can enter the show room and view and purchase a variety of unique Waterford Crystal Pieces. If they wish guests can also take a factory tour and witness how Waterford Crystal is created. This is a guided tour with each stage described to all visitors by your tour guide. Just a short walk from The House of Waterford Crystal is the new Waterford Treasures Museum which houses a variety of interesting historical pieces that present the rich history of Waterford.
There is much more to see and do in Waterford City and the surrounding county however, Copper Coast is a petting zoo and playground for kids that hosts a variety of animals such as pigs, alpacas, komodo dragons and various other farmyard animals, this is a fantastic day out for families and kids of all ages! Adding to this there are various beaches and family activities that will be sure to leave a positive lasting impression on all who visit this area.
During the summer the streets come alive in Waterford with various summer Festivals such as Spraoi, The Bluegrass Festival in Dunmore East and the eagerly awaited Day Tripper festival which presents acts such as Imelda May, Madness and The Coronas. Waterford is becoming one of Irelands premiere locations for festivals of all types. and New Ross. This ensures our guest have access to fantastic cities and tourist spots!
