A Day In The Life Of A Hotel Receptionist

Ever wonder what it's like to be a receptionist in a three star family run hotel? The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel has a fantastic front office department. Each member of this department has been working here for over 10 years. Each has an expertise in reception and through their time here has encountered a variety of individuals.

The receptionists here at The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel work either the early or late shift as they are referred to. The early shift, like many other hotels around the world lasts from 7 am till 3 pm. The late shift then occurs between 3 pm and 11 pm. Although when working reception there are daily activities that are generally quite routine, such as; checking guests in and out, answering phones, taking reservations and generally maintaining the cleanliness of the reception area.

However, working as part of the front office department requires someone who can work under pressure, multi-task and do it all with a smile and a friendly tone! Many receptionists find themselves assisting the organisations of events, restaurant reservations and often act as part of the marketing department! The marketing role that receptionists undertake is primarily due to their customer facing role. On entering a hotel the receptionist is often the first person they meet and here at The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel we strivve to ensure that the first person the customer meets delights them.

Many of the receptionists here in The Rhu Glenn Country Club hotel has been with us for over 10 years. We feel that their expertise allows the hotel to provide customer care that remains with customers long after their visit is over. Over many years we have gained a strong reputation for this and we pride ourselves in continuing this tradition with all customers both past, present and future.

Although at time working as part of the front office department can be very busy, talking to our receptionists here it is a very rewarding and varied job, that would suit anyone who is approachable and friendly. A smile says a thousand words, and we ensure that every one of our customers is greeted with a smile.
