Concert Essentials

Bruce Springsteen At Nolan Park Kilkenny

Here at The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel, we are huge fans of Bruce Springsteen and we are eagerly awaiting his performance in Nolan Park this Saturday, the 27th of July.
To celebrate this concert, we thought we could give you a small check list which would help you in preparing for any type of concert!
Things to bring;
Your Ticket!
It sounds obvious, but you’d be surprised the amount of times people forget their tickets half way to the venue and have to turn back to get it! Our tip would be to put it with your phone or your keys, or something you wouldn't leave home without the night before to ensure you wont forget it!
Sensible Shoes
Although many people make a night out of a concert, please remember that you will probably be walking, standing and dancing for a few hours straight. If you want to make it out after the concert, bring a sensible pair of shoes to the concert!
Bring A Go-Go (Hair Tie)
This goes for both girls and guys with long hair, no matter hair straight your hair is, during the night is will either get in your eyes or become frizzy due to the weather conditions, to stop this from annoying you bring a go-go which will allow you to control your hair easily during the concert.
Identification
Some concerts nowadays require I.D. during entry and some venues can be strict on not allowing people in without the appropriate I.D., be sure to check this out before going to a concert and make sure to bring I.D., there’s no point in spending all that money to go to a concert, if you cannot get into the venue!
Wear Appropriate Clothing

Wear something that will cover you up and keep you dry if it rains, but something that will also keep you cool if it is warm. Always bring a bag and keep a jacket or hoodie in it in case it gets too wet or cold. Bringing the bag also means that you don’t have to canny  your jacket or wear it, which may cause you to over heat!

Packing Tips For Everyone!

For this weeks blog entry, as we are now in the middle of summer and everyone is jetting off to exotic locations or staying home bound and travelling to beautiful locations, we thought we'd do one full of practical tips for packing!

Packing can be the most daunting task when planning a trip! Especially is you are like many of us here and like to bring everything but the kitchen sink, but with our few tips, packing will be a breeze for you! So this week we went around our hotel and we asked other members of staff what their ideal packing tip would be, and what we found out will help everyone!

1) The first tip we were given, which was the most obvious, but surprisingly many people didn't think of it was to roll your clothes and not to fold them! Many seasoned travellers often say that rolling your clothes is far superior to folding them. A tightly rolled article of clothing saves space for other things you may want to pack and as an added bonus, they are less prone to getting badly wrinkled, which is always a bonus, especially when you don't want to be ironing your clothes when you are on holidays!

2) The second tip that we found to be handy was to make a packing list. Stay organised and on top of everything by making a list of the items you need to pack, as you pack them cross them off the list. This helps you keep track of everything you are packing and stops you from bringing unnecessary items with you! This also allows you to purchase items you need such as suncream and aftersun before you go away and helps you plan everything in advance, which is always great, especially if you are travelling with children!

3) Thiredly, know your weight allowance and know how much you will be charged if you are over your weight! Both of these change from airline to airline, so be careful and always check well in advance of your flight. This information is normally on the airlines website! You should always pack light, and remember that you will be bringing things home with you. Also remember that if you don't think you need something don't bring it, if you find yourself needing it while on holidays, you can always get it when you are away!

4) Our second last tip would be to layer things! You can layer clothes while you are packing them to save space and you can also wear layers while travelling to save space and that much needed weight in your bag! Just make sure that you wear clothes you will be comfy in as travelling can be uncomfy at times!

5) Finally, a great tip which came from one of our staff members here, never check in essential items! The majority of airlines now offer passengers to bring one item of carry on luggage with them on a flight. You should use this carry on wisely and not pack thins you don't need with you. You should only pack essential items that you would not to lose or damage. A change of clothes, money, mobile phone, jewellery, travellers cheques, etc are all items that you could consider bringing on board with you! Also remember you are not permitted to bring any type of liquids with you, this includes shampoo and conditioner. As an extra tip for everyone you should always store shampoo, conditioner and any other toiletry that could leak in an airtight plastic bag.

We here at The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel would like to thank you for reading this blog, and wherever your travels take you this summer, please enjoy them and be safe!

Contemporary Wedding Favours and Ideas

As we, The Rhu Glenn Country Club Hotel, are hosting a number over the coming months, we are continiously meeting with couples and their families and helping them create unique and individual wedding concepts which not only represent the couple well, but leaves a lasting impression on all guests. Over much thought and deliberation among members of staff, we feel that there are a variety of wedding ideas that allow couples to inexpensively express their individuality and creativity.

One of the most popular and easy ways of doing this is through wedding favours. Traditionally wedding favours were gifts given from the couple and their families to guest attending the wedding, these favours ranged from a small note with a personal message on it for each person, to more expensive favours such as cufflinks for the men and jewellery for women. However in these modern times, many couples tend to use these wedding favours as a means of adding a quirky and innovative sense to the wedding.

What we have noticed become evermore popular in recent times are sweet carts. many businesses all over Ireland are being set up to cater sweets to a variety of functions and events. These sweetcarts add a sense of nostalgia and wonder to a wedding, as many of the organisations stock many individuals childhood sweets that are quite difficult to get in these modern times.  These sweet carts also acts as a conversation starter between individuals at a wedding who may not know each other. Needless to say these carts go down a treat with kids, of all ages and sizes!

Another interesting trend which is sweeping accross a variety of celebrations is the use of photo booths! These photo booths allow guests to dress up, take random photos and create life long memories at your wedding! Many photo booths now allow guests to upload their photos to Facebook and Twitter and to print multiple copies of a photo! What we've seen is that these photo booths capture unique moments of family and friends coming together in a celebration, these photos are great additions to a couples wedding album! This will allow both family and friends to look back in years to come and remember your wedding day fondly.

Finally, we couldn't do a blog about weddings and wedding ideas without mentioning cake! Cupcakes in recent times become a trendy and contemporary alternative to wedding cakes, many couples prefer this as it is easier for their guest to have some, they also act yet again as a conversation starter and also add a quirky sense of style to a couples day. In terms of wedding favours, a new trend, cupcake pops have increased in popularity, in particular during the champagne reception of your wedding. These cupcake pops are mini cakes on a stick that are designed to look like ice cream or lollipops. This are a fun, innovative and cost effective way of adding a creative touch to the traditional cake but modernising it you also communicate style to your friends and family!
